1. empiricism

claims experience is the source of knowledge. Empiricists are philosophers who argue that most of what people claim to know, they must first have had experience of.

2. epistemology

the theory of knowledge; Derived from Ancient Greek words episteme which means "knowledge" and logos which means discourse or account.

3. rationalism

claims reason, as opposed to sense experience, as the primary source of knowledge. Rationalists use the systemic nature of mathematical knowledge as the model of how knowledge should be.
